The Boston Celtics secured a 2-0 lead in the 2024 NBA Finals with a 105-98 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night. Despite a challenging shooting night where they went 10-for-39 from beyond the arc, the Celtics managed to pull ahead with their strong team play, recording 29 assists and a near-perfect 19-for-20 from the free throw line.

Jrue Holiday led the Celtics with 26 points, while Jayson Tatum (18 points, 12 assists, 9 rebounds) and Jaylen Brown (21 points, 7 assists) also contributed significantly to the win. Kristaps Porzingis, coming off the bench, played a crucial role with his unique blend of offense and defense, adding 12 points to the Celtics’ tally.

For the Mavericks, Luka Doncic put up a valiant effort with 32 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. However, his performance wasn’t enough to keep Dallas afloat for the full 48 minutes. The Celtics’ defense managed to contain the Mavericks’ offense, limiting their scoring opportunities.

With this win, the Celtics now have an 86% chance of winning the NBA title, as teams up 2-0 in the NBA Finals historically win 86% of the time. The series now moves to Dallas, where the Mavericks will look to bounce back in Game 3 on Wednesday at 8:30 pm ET/ABC.
