High-A Myrtle Beach

Pelicans beat Fayetteville 6-1.

  • Cubs #18-ranked prospect, RHP Paul Richan allowed three hits and one earned run in 5.0 innings. Richan struck out two and walked three, picking up the win.
  • OF Jimmy Herron went 1-for-5 with 2 RBI.
  • 1B Luke Reynolds went 1-for-2 with 2 runs scored and 2 walks.

Double-A Tennessee

Smokies beat Birmingham 7-1.

  • Cubs #9-ranked prospect, RHP Cory Abbott allowed eight hits and one earned run in 5.2 innings. Abbott struck out eight and walked one. He’s only allowed one run through 10 2/3 innings (2 starts) this season.
  • 1B Jared Young went 1-for-4 with 2 RBI and a run scored.
  • 3B Clayton Daniel went 3-for-4 with 1 RBI and a run scored in his debut.
