Cubs Minor League Recap (4/11)

Dominant pitching continued for the Cubs farm system on Thursday night.

Single-A South Bend

South Bend beat Great Lakes 2-1.

  • 2B Levi Jordan went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI and a run scored.
  • OF Jonathan Sierra went 1-for-3 with 1 RBI.
  • RHP Cam Sanders pitched another shutout, going 5.0 innings. Sanders allowed just a hit while striking out three in his 2nd start. He’s allowed just four hits and no runs through 10.0 innings.

High-A Myrtle Beach

Pelicans fell to Fayetteville 3-2.

  • Cubs #6-ranked prospect, SS Aramis Ademan went 1-for-3 with a 2-run homer in the first.
  • 2B Carlos Sepulveda went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
  • LHP Bryan Hudson went 5.0 innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs. Hudson struck out five and walked two.

Double-A Tennessee

Tennessee fell to Birmingham 5-1.

  • Cubs #17-ranked prospect, RHP Thomas Hatch didn’t allow a hit in 5.0 innings. Hatch struck out four and walked one. He has yet to allow a run through 2 starts, striking out 11 in 10.0 innings.
  • 1B Jared Young went 1-for-4 with 1 RBI and a run scored.

Triple-A Iowa

Iowa beat New Orleans 5-4.

  • Cubs #20-ranked prospect, 2B Trent Giambrone went 1-for-3 with a 3-run homer.
  • Cubs #25-ranked prospect, RHP Duane Underwood Jr. allowed four hits and two earned runs in 4 2/3 innings. Underwood struck out six and walked two.
  • SS Dixon Machado went 3-for-4 with a walk-off homer in the 9th.
