Cubs Minor League Recap (4/30)

Myrtle Beach was the Cubs only farm team in action on Tuesday.

Single-A South Bend

Postponed, rain.

High-A Myrtle Beach

Pelicans fell to Down East 7-4.

  • #22 prospect, RHP Oscar De La Cruz started and pitched 4.0 innings, allowing three hits and one earned run. De La Cruz struck out six and walked four. He has been very solid through 3 starts after his return from suspension. De La Cruz has allowed just 2 earned runs in 15.0 innings while striking out 17.
  • De La Cruz is considered to be on a “rehab assignment” for the Pelicans. He was suspended 80 games last July for violating Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. De La Cruz is still on the Cubs 40-man roster and could potentially get to Tennessee or Iowa if things go well this season.
  • OF Jimmy Herron went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk.
