Cubs Minor League Recap (4/8)

Carl Edwards Jr. made his Iowa debut and the Cubs farm system had a few nice prospect performances on Monday.

Single-A South Bend

South Bend fell to Great Lakes 3-2.

  • Cubs #5-ranked prospect, OF Cole Roederer went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI.

High-A Myrtle Beach

Pelicans fell to Down East 12-4.

  • OF Kevonte Mitchell went 2-for-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI.
  • 3B Luke Reynolds went 1-for-3 with a run scored, a walk, and 2 RBI.

Double-A Tennessee

Rained out.

Triple-A Iowa

Iowa beat Nashville 6-5.

  • RP Carl Edwards Jr. tossed 1.1 innings in relief, allowing two hits.  Edwards struck out three and walked none while picking up the win.
  • CF Ian Happ went 1-for-5 with a run scored and 1 RBI. Happ is only batting .217/.250/.304 through 5 games for Iowa.
  • Cubs #20-ranked prospect, 2B Trent Giambrone went 2-for-5 with a run scored.
  • RHP Trevor Clifton started and pitched only 3.0 innings, allowing three hits and an unearned run. Clifton struck out three and walked one.
  • 3B Phillip Evans went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.
