Cubs Pitching Prospects dominated on Tuesday.

Single-A South Bend

South Bend beat Great Lakes 6-1.

  • Cubs #3-ranked prospect, LHP Brailyn Marquez dominated. Marquez allowed just one hit over 3 2/3 innings while striking out seven and walking two. He was likely on a 60-pitch limit, only throwing 59 pitches.
  • RHP Jeff Passantino came in after Marquez, striking out four in 3 1/3 innings. Passantino now has 10 strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings this season.
  • C Eric Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.
  • OF D.J. Artis went 2-for-4 with a walk and run scored.

High-A Myrtle Beach

Pelicans fell to Down East 5-4.

  • OF Kevonte Mitchell went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI, a walk, and run scored. Mitchell is now 4-for-8 with 3 RBI in his last 2 games.
  • 3B Luke Reynolds went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
  • LHP Luis Lugo allowed just 5 hits and 1 earned run in 5.0 innings. Lugo struck out six and walked one in his debut.

Triple-A Iowa

Iowa fell to New Orleans 4-3.

  • OF Ian Happ went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI, a walk, and run scored.
  • RHP Duncan Robinson went 6.0 innings, allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs. Robinson struck out four and walked one.
