Single-A South Bend

Cubs split doubleheader; 1-2 and 2-0.

  • #5 prospect, OF Cole Roederer went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI in game one.
  • RHP Cam Sanders was excellent over 5.0 innings in game one. Sanders allowed four hits and one earned run while striking out five. He is 2-0 with a 1.88 ERA in 5 games (4 starts) this season.
  • RHP Derek Casey threw 4.0 shutout innings in game two. Casey allowed three hits and two walks while striking out five.
  • OF D.J. Artis went 2-for-4 in game two. Artis is batting .266 with 12 RBI and 15 walks in 22 games.

High-A Myrtle Beach

Pelicans fell to Down East 8-3.

  • OF Jimmy Herron went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Herron has a hit in 4 consecutive games.

Double-A Tennessee

Smokies beat Jackson 3-2.

  • #19 prospect, RHP Tyson Miller dominated with 6 1/3 scoreless innings. Miller allowed just a pair of hits and one walk while striking out a season-high nine. He continues his stellar start to the season, 1-1 with a 1.07 ERA in 5 starts.
  • #29 prospect, C Jhonny Pereda went 2-for-4. Pereda is batting .306 with 6 RBI in his last 10 games.
  • OF Roberto Caro went 1-for-5 with 2 RBI.
  • 3B Robel Garcia recorded another hit, good for his 8th consecutive game with a hit. Garcia is batting .345 with 5 homers and 19 RBI in just 15 games this season.

Triple-A Iowa

Cubs won both games of doubleheader; 6-1 and 3-2.

  • CF Ian Happ went 0-for-4 on the day with one walk. Happ’s batting average is just .223 through 26 games for Iowa.
  • Addison Russell did not play in either game on Wednesday.
  • LHP Randy Rosario picked up the save in game two, his first appearance since being sent down. Rosario struck out three while allowing one hit in the 9th.
  • RHP Colin Rea threw 5.0 innings of one-hit baseball, picking up his 3rd win this season. Rea struck out three and walked two in game one. Rea incredibly hit a solo homer as well in his only at-bat.
  • OF Donnie Dewees went 2-for-7 on the day with 2 RBI and a run scored. Dewees is batting .292 this season with a hit in 6 straight games.
  • OF Johnny Field went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and a run scored in game two.
  • RHP Trevor Clifton was excellent in his first start this season. Clifton went 5.0 innings, allowing just two hits and two earned runs. He struck out eight and walked none. Clifton had pitched 11 2/3 innings of relief prior to the start and had not allowed a run until now. Still, 2 runs in 5.0 innings is very solid.
