Cubs Minor League Recap (5/15)

Pitching was great for Myrtle Beach and Tennesee on Wednesday. South Bend, not so much.

Single-A South Bend

Cubs fell to Bowling Green 17-0.

  • #15 prospect, OF Nelson Velazquez was pretty much the lone highlight. Velazquez went 2-for-4, now batting .314 in 33 games.

High-A Myrtle Beach

Pelicans shutout Winston Salem 1-0.

  • RHP Javier Assad continued his shutout streak, dominating again. Assad yielded just one hit over 7.0 innings. He struck out a career-high 9 and walked none. Assad has allowed just 5 hits in May without surrendering a run through 3 starts (19.0 innings). It shouldn’t be much longer until he’s promoted to AA Tennessee.
