Cubs Minor League Recap (6/4)

Excellent pitching in South Bend and Tennessee highlighted Tuesday in the Cubs farm system.

Single-A South Bend

Cubs beat Bowling Green 5-4.

  • #7 prospect, OF Brennen Davis went 2-for-4 with a 2-run homer for a total of 3 RBI. Davis is batting .382 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI in 10 games this season.
  • RHP Peyton Remy was excellent over 5.0 innings. Remy allowed just 2 hits and 1 earned run. He struck out 3 and walked 1, picking up the win.
  • 1B Tyler Durna went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI.

High-A Myrtle Beach

Pelicans fell to Wilmington 4-3.

  • 2B Carlos Sepulveda went 3-for-4 with 1 RBI.
  • 3B Cam Balego went 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Balego now has 5 home runs on the season.

Double-A Tennessee

Smokies fell to Montgomery 1-0.

  • #8 prospect, LHP Justin Steele dominated with 5.0 shutout innings. Steele allowed just 1 hit while striking out 6.

Triple-A Iowa

Cubs fell to El Paso 6-3.

  • OF Ian Happ went 1-for-3 with a solo homer.
  • 1B Phillip Evans went 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Evans is now hitting .282 with 9 homers and 28 RBI through 56 games this season.
