Triple-A Iowa

Off day, All-Star break. Cubs RHP Colin Rea struck out 2 in the 2nd inning.

Double-A Tennessee

Off day.

High-A Myrtle Beach

Pelicans shutout Potomac 3-0.

  • LHP Jack Patterson was the star of the day with 5.0 shutout innings. Patterson gave up a lone single while striking out 3 and walking none. He is 6-1 with a 1.93 ERA in 18 games (3 starts) this season. Patterson has now started back-to-back games with a total of 9.0 scoreless innings.
  • C Miguel Amaya went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Amaya is hitting .327 with 11 RBI over his last 10 games.
  • 1B Cam Balego went 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Balego is now hitting .253 with 10 homers in 68 games this season.

Single-A South Bend

Cubs fell to Kane County 2-3.

  • SS Andy Weber went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI. Weber now has 41 RBI in 80 games this season.
  • DH/3B Luke Reynolds went 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Reynolds now has 4 this season between Myrtle Beach and South Bend.
  • 2B Clayton Daniel went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Daniel is hitting .316 this season in 29 combined games between Tennessee and South Bend.

Low-A Eugene

Emeralds fell to Salem Keizer 3-2.

  • RHP Kohl Franklin was excellent once again with 4.0 shutout innings. Franklin allowed 3 hits while striking out 4. He has a 1.25 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 5 starts (21.2 innings) this season.
  • 3B Yonathan Perlaza went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Perlaza is batting  .317 over his last 10 games.
  • 2B Chase Strumpf went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI. Strumpf continues to impress, improving his batting average to .360 for Eugene in 6 games.
