- Strumpf was the Cubs 2nd round pick this year and Maldonado was their 21st round pick this year.

Cubs shutout and destroyed Dayton 10-0.
- RHP Riley Thompson was excellent again with 5.0 shutout innings. Thompson allowed just 4 hits while striking out 3 and walking none. He has a 2.35 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 14 starts this season.
- 3B Chris Morel went 3-for-5 with 1 RBI and a triple. Morel has a hit in 8 of his last 10 games, hitting .436 during the stretch. Overall this season, he’s batting .285 with 6 homers and 29 RBI in 70 games.
- DH/OF Brennen Davis went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. Davis is still on fire this season, hitting .306 with 5 home runs and 19 RBI in 38 games.
