After selecting righty Ryan Jensen in the 1st round, the Cubs followed up with second baseman Chase Strumpf out of UCLA in the 2nd round:

Strumpf has been excellent for UCLA. He’s batting .298 with 26 homers and 121 RBI in 3 seasons for the Bruins. Strumpf is hitting .281 in 57 games this season. He’s still playing as UCLA Baseball is in the NCAA regionals.
According to MLB Pipeline, Strumpf was the #41-ranked draft prospect. He can “flat out rake” with great patience at the plate. Strumpf’s a “reliable defender at second base” and projected to be an “offensive-minded second baseman with some power”.
The pick might be a good one for the Cubs. Check this out:
