The Cubs start a 3-game road series tonight against Colorado. The Cubs have won 6 of their last 7 games. That’s a pretty nice stretch. Here is some of the latest Cubs news/notes/fun in bullet points.

  • With the sweep last night, the Cubs now have 4 series sweeps this season. 2 have been against the Cardinals. Also with the win, the Cubs are now 4-0 on Sunday Night Baseball this season. The Cubs have not disappointed on national television.
  • Kyle Hendricks allowed just 1 run over 7.0 innings. Hendricks is now 7-0 with a 2.31 ERA in his last 10 starts against St. Louis. That’s a pretty good stretch against the division rival.

  • #7 prospect, OF Brennen Davis, who we just highlighted the other day, recorded a single for South Bend. It was more than a hit, however. Davis has now reached base safely in all 15 of his games this season.
  • RHP Scott Effross and RHP Michael Rucker combined for a 9.0 inning Tennessee shutout. Effross allowed 4 hits in 5.0 innings while Rucker allowed 3 in 4.0 innings. Neither issued a walk while Rucker notched 5 Ks.
  • 2B Robel Garcia homered again for Iowa. Garcia now has 15 home runs and 45 RBI in 52 games this season. He’s hitting .289/.371/.583 along the way.
