  • RHP prospect, Zach Mort struck out 5 over 4.0 innings in the Eugene Emeralds season opener. Mort allowed just 3 hits in the shutout.
  • #30 prospect, RHP Andy Weber went 4-for-5 with 2 RBI for South Bend. 4 hits are a Cubs MiLB career-high for Weber.
  • RHP prospect, Derek Casey picked up the win for South Bend in a quality start. Casey yielded 3 hits and 1 earned run in 6.0 innings. He struck out 5 and walked none.
  • #8 prospect, LHP Justin Steele was dominant for Tennessee. 7 of Steele’s 10 outs came as strikeouts. He had 4 walks, cutting his start short at 3.1 innings. However, Steele picked up his 2nd consecutive scoreless start.
  • Cubs top pitching prospect, RHP Adbert Alzolay was on fire again for Iowa. Alzolay allowed 8 hits and just 2 earned runs in 6.0 innings. He struck out 9 and walked none. Alzolay is now 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in his last 5 starts. He has struck out 40 in 28.0 innings during the stretch. And the better yet, Alzolay has only walked 3 during the span. Incredible.
