  • RHP prospect, Alexander Vargas picked up the win for Myrtle Beach with 5.0 solid frames. Vargas allowed 4 hits and 1 run. He struck out 4 and walked 1. Vargas has only started 2 games this season but has allowed just 1 run in 10.0 innings.
  • #17 prospect, RHP Thomas Hatch was excellent again for the Smokies win. Hatch went 6.0 innings, allowing 6 hits and 1 earned run. He struck out 5 and walked 1. In 4 of his last 5 starts, Hatch has allowed one earned run or less. He has 27 strikeouts in 27.1 innings during the stretch.
  • #20 prospect, 1B Trent Giambrone went 2-for-5 with a 2-run homer for Iowa. Giambrone now has 11 on the season, with 5 RBI in his last 3 games.
  • OF prospect, Mark Zagunis went 2-for-5 with 3 RBI for Iowa. Zagunis is batting .364 through 9 games for Iowa since being sent down,
