The Cubs won again last night, beating the Rockies 9-8 thanks to a David Bote masterpiece. Here is some of the latest Cubs news/notes/fun in bullet points.
- Pedro Strop is excited for Craig Kimbrel:
Pedro Strop: “He’s awesome. You’re bringing in, if he’s not the best, he’s one of the best closers in the game. Hopefully he’s in good shape so he can help us win another World Series….He’s one of my favorites.”

- Jon Lester also:
Jon Lester: “It’s like getting a gift on Christmas morning and having to wait to open it for a week or so before he’s here.”

- One more about Craig Kimbrel:
Craig Kimbrel fun facts:
– He made his MLB debut 5/7/2010 – the same day Starlin Castro had 6 RBI in his MLB debut.
– David Ross caught him in that MLB debut.#Cubs

- David Bote had quite a night:

- More fun with Bote’s night. The South Bend Cubs gave away a David Bote bobblehead just hours before he wrapped up a masterpiece:
Tonight was David Bote Bobblehead night for the @SBCubs. Just a few hours after they were handed out, Bote wrapped up a 7 RBI masterpiece. NICE. @Cubs pic.twitter.com/mDTXGICy7c

- David Bote recorded the first 7 RBI game by a Cub since Willson Contreras on May 11, 2018. Bote is the first Cubs second baseman with a 7 RBI game since Ryne Sandberg on June 23, 1984. Finally, Bote is the first Cub to record at least 4 hits and 7 RBI out of the eighth spot since 1967. What a night.
- Not to be lost in all the Craig Kimbrel/David Bote news, the Cubs wrapped-up the MLB Draft yesterday:

- The Cubs really stocked up on pitching with 22 pitchers in 40 rounds. The Cubs are continuing to load up on pitchers in the farm system, already with a ton of excellent arms.
- Check out this awesome curveball from Darvish (with a lot of movement):

- And finally, one interesting stat. 15 of the Cubs last 24 games have been decided by 2 runs or fewer. After last night, the Cubs are 12-12 during this stretch.
