Everything is going great for the Cubs right now after clobbering the Cardinals last night 9-4.
- Here are some fun notes from last night’s Cubs win:
- The Cubs have now won 6 straight games against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field. That marks the longest Wrigley Field win streak against St. Louis since the 2005-2006 seasons.
- Down 4 runs early, the Cubs matched their largest come-from-behind win of the season. The other time was also against St. Louis.
- Cubs pitchers retired 19-straight batters after Kris Bryant’s fielding error in the 3rd, reaching the 9th inning.
- Victor Caratini was a big part of the Cubs win with this bases-clearing RBI double:

- Meanwhile, on Saturday night, Ian Happ had a big game for Iowa. Happ went 1-for-3 with a 2-run homer and 3 walks.
- Sticking with the Cubs Minor Leagues, May’s Cubs MiLB pitcher of the month, Craig Brooks, recorded 3 strikeouts in 1.2 scoreless innings. Brooks now has a 0.71 ERA in 18 relief appearances this season.
- The Cardinals pitching really struggled:
The Cardinals threw 192 pitches in 8 innings against the Cubs tonight. A shame we didn’t get to 200. That’s only happened 5 times in 8 innings on record here at Wrigley (pitch data goes back to 1988).

- Jon Lester’s an on-base machine:
Professional Hitter Jon Lester just drew a walk and now has a .438 OBP on the season.

- Here’s the Cubs pitcher we’re all talking about:

- The Cubs signed their 1st-rounder:
Ryan Jensen, RHP from Fresno State and Cubs 1st rounder, agreed at $2M. Understandably a bit below slot as he was a surprise to go that high. Andersen Pickard reported agreement.

- And finally, the Cubs can sweep St. Louis today. Imagine sweep, sweep, sweep to start out the 2019 season series with the Cardinals.
