Nico Hoerner Is Back! Full Recap And Stats From His 1st Live Action Since Injury

The Cubs #1 prospect, shortstop Nico Hoerner has been sidelined since late April with a wrist/hand injury. After months of recovery, Hoerner was activated off the injured list and sent on a rehab assignment to the Arizona Cubs #2 team, where he played in live action on Thursday night.

Hoerner went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored. He grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, and singled in the 5th. Hoerner scored on a fielding error in the 5th. He fielded 2 outs, a groundout and a line out.

In 18 games at AA Tennessee, Hoerner was hitting .300 with 1 homer and 6 RBI in 18 games. He appeared in 14 Spring Training games for the Cubs this year and raked. Hoerner hit .471 (8-for-17) with 2 triples this spring.

He was the Cubs 1st round pick in last year’s draft.
